Concerning Ducky

I finished the novella, Ducky, today. It finished under 35,900 words in 9 chapters. All nine chapters are posted. Enjoy.

Concerning Full Disclosure

Please do not be put off by the number of pages in Full Disclosure. The pages are very short and double spaced.

I understand it was difficult navigating through the pages of my novella, Full Disclosure. I have worked diligently to fix that problem and have devised a solution. I had to manually add links to each page. The link on the title page after the text looks like this: Go to Story. I have added page links at the bottom of each page that look like this: Previous Page  Next Page.

I could not put a page counter on each page, so if you get lost, hover the mouse over Full Disclosure and the drop will appear. The page you are currently on will appear in BOLD.

I hope this helps. Remember, you can read my stories for free, but if you wish to add a comment, you must register and sign in.

It’s Sunday, 7/2/17

It’s Sunday, and I’m still hurting. It’s like I’m in constant ball-racking. My right ball.

I made the mistake, for the millionth time in my life, of trying to be funny and having it fall flat and some opinionated stranger taking it the wrong way. I hate that. I hate it when people can’t recognize that I am, at least, making a stab at humor. Those people have no sense of humor at all. I don’t want to live in a world that is serious and can’t laugh at itself.

I also don’t want to live in a world where people cannot understand the word, unpretentious. Stop reading stuff into my work! My stories are just stories. There are no great life-changing profundities in those pages. I am not William Faulkner or James Joyce, or anybody else. My stories are meant to entertain you, to let you escape into a world I create.

They’re just stories. I’m not out to prove anything.

That’s all. That’s what’s happening today.

It’s Friday

Here it is, Friday. I’m posting my second part to the “Ducky” stories today to Becoming Writer. I’m nervous about this one. I’m not sure how it will be received. I think it’s good. It contains more character building than action. And it runs a little long for everyone’s taste at Becoming Writer.

I’m feeling some better, not much. Still sore, still aching. I hope this is the last surgery.

Update

I’m home from the hospital. I’m really sore. They sent me home with some pills to relieve the surgery pain. Surgery is not so hard. You go to sleep, then wake up and its over. Then you hurt all over and wonder what the hell they did to you. You move your leg and hurt in your abdomen. Everything is connected.

My take on nurses: After surgery, your stomach is growling because you haven’t eaten in many hours and when you finally get some food the nurse sets in on the portable table tray and leaves. You’ve got hoses coming out of your arms, and other places, and you can’t reach the patient’s table, let alone operate it. So the nurse has to come back and raise it and put the food in front of you and asks you, “Is that better?” and you try to be nice to her and tell her “Yes, thank you,” and she turns and leaves again. The food is cold by now. She smiles so nicely.

I’ve done some editing and I think I’m ready to submit my next story for the Becoming Writer community tomorrow. I submit one new piece per week. This is new to me and I submitted too many stories last week and they deleted one of them. So it goes. I think I’ve got a better understanding of the rules now. I’ll be a good boy.

Remember, you can read my stories all you want without logging in. They are free to the world. If you want to comment on them, you must register and log in.

Thanks, from a very sore and sleepy

I’m headed to the hospital today. I’ll spend the night after surgery. There should not be any complications. I’ve had this surgery before. I’ll be back Thursday.
